The four steps

1. A proverb from a published source.

Every proverb in the rotation carries a citation. Nobody adds one from memory or from a hunch, and no proverb is invented.

2. A reflection we write ourselves.

The reading around the proverb is our own prose, written for the day in your language. It works as a prompt to think with, never as an instruction.

3. A speaker of your language signs it.

A fluent speaker reads the copy and signs that language for that day. An unsigned language cannot reach a paying reader, because the sender refuses it.

4. Then it ships.

The signed reading joins the rotation. Every reader of that language meets the same words on the same day.

The proverb rule

Proverbs arrive with paperwork.

The proverb registry is served with the site. Open /data/daily-readings.json and read the citations yourself.

Scripture and translation

Scripture

Verses travel in the King James Version, in English, with the reference and the translation named. The King James Version is public domain.

A local-language verse

Someone has to sign it. A local-language scripture line needs a licensed text or prose a reviewer has written and approved.

The reflection

The reflection is ours, in your language. We write it for the day rather than translating an English paragraph.

Copyrighted translations

Copyrighted Bible translations stay out of the messages. A licensed text or signed original prose carries any local-language verse.

The review gate

The writer never signs their own work. Whoever wrote a line cannot approve it.

The signature is recorded against the language and the date. The send path checks that field, so an unsigned language fails closed rather than reaching a reader.

The site shows the status. Where copy is still waiting for a signature, the page says so, the way the review line sits under today's reading.

Live now: English, Afrikaans and isiZulu. In preparation: isiXhosa, Sesotho, Setswana, Sepedi, Tshivenda, Xitsonga, siSwati and isiNdebele, each one going live as a speaker of that language signs it off.

If we get something wrong

A correction is a rewrite. We change the file, run the rules on this page over it again, and the change appears on the site.
